Inside Za'atari

Michael Christopher Brown, a Magnum professional photographer, travelled a Syrian refugee camp in Za'atari, in neighbouring Jordan.

However, instead of merely doing the expected, he spent time teaching the children there to take pictures with smarthones.

The result is a remarkable photo collection, which presents the life in the camp as seen by the Syrian refugee teenagers.

It is touching and uplifting in its details and its scenes of everyday life in extraordinary conditions.

The webpage of the project supported by the charity Save the Children shows a selection of the photos, but the Tumblr image feed set up for & by the children can also be viewed - and it contains images and videos.
