The 775th Spring

As spring well & truly arrived, the testing a new lens provided perfect little excuse to visit again the ruins of Netley Abbey on the South Coast of Hampshire, England.

It is one of the Cistercian abbeys that Henry VIII "suppressed" (a superb term for what had happened) - and it seems Jane Austen loved to visit the ruins for quiet contemplation.

It was founded in 1239 - so, whilst testing the lens, the coin dropped that these images may well be capturing moments of Netley Abbey's 775th spring...
